The Newman Center

Take this guided
tour of our building,
built in 1971 to
better serve the
students of WCU.

The Chapel NC logo
The Chapel

The chapel is open for quiet prayer whenever the building is open. Spend some time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, and enjoy the serenity of our stained glass windows and beautiful artwork. Daily Mass is held here at 4:15 p.m., M-Th.

The Library NC logo
Library / Study Room

It's quieter than the one on campus, that's for sure! Drop by our library to study; use our computers to work on a paper. When you need a break, catch a nap on one of our comfy couches. Then you can pop downstairs for a snack or over to chapel for a prayer before hitting the books again, or heading up to another class.

The Auditorium NC logo
Auditorium / Church Space

Bet you couldn't tell this room was here from the outside! Our auditorium seats 240 people easily, more if necessary. In addition to having Sunday Mass here, we also rent the space to University, community, religious organizations, and other groups. Sunday Mass is held at 5:30 and 9:00 p.m. on most Sundays of the academic year. See our calendar for details.

The Lounge NC logo
The Lounge

We use the lounge for most of our CNSA gatherings, which take place on Wednesday nights, usually at 7:30 p.m. (See our calendar for details.) Students also use this room for studying, TV/VCR/DVD watching . . . even building themselves a fire to relax by! We also rent this room to University groups (during our regular operating hours) for special events.

The Kitchen NC logo
The Kitchen

Wow! Two ovens, six burners, and seating for at least 12. Plus cold drinks in the fridge and snacks on the counter, all free for students' enjoyment. Come take a study break here, make yourself a cup of tea, have some M&M's. Bring the fixins' and bake cookies (just leave us a few!) And on Sunday nights, any student who serve in our various liturgical ministries are invited to stay (or come early) for a student-cooked dinner. Fun!

Fr. Nordeman's Office

Just past the library is the office of our Director, Fr. John Nordeman. Fr. Nordeman hears confessions in his office on Sundays from 4:30-5 and 8-8:30 p.m., and just about any other time by appointment.

Regina's Office

If you walk in the building any weekday, you'll be greeted by our wonderful secretary / bookkeeper / receptionist / minister of hospitality: Regina McCarthy! Her office also serves as a work-space for the CNSA officers.
